In Need for Service, service kits (also called canned services) are saved jobs that let you fill out an estimate in one click instead of building it line by line every time. This video shows how they work and how to set them up.

What service kits are

A service kit is a saved set of parts, item codes, descriptions, and costs for a specific job. If you're doing a full tint install or an oil change over and over, you set it up once with all the right parts and pricing, and from then on it's one click to add the whole job to any estimate.

Creating estimates directly from the service kits page

If you're doing a very repeatable service — say you're a tint shop doing full installs all day — you can create estimates directly from the Service Kits page without building them from a customer record. Search the customer, choose their vehicle, add any notes, and create the estimate straight from the kit. It's a faster path for high-volume repeat jobs.

Using a service kit on an estimate

On any estimate, you click "Select Service Kit," find the kit you want — oil change, brake job, whatever — and it loads all the parts and labor in instantly. You just assign the technician and it's done. The demo in the video shows an oil change being added to an estimate in a few seconds that way.

How kits are built

Service kits are built from your articles — your actual parts inventory. Articles store the part name, item code, where it's stored, how much stock you have, cost, and selling price. When you build a kit, you search your articles, select the parts you need, and the item codes and pricing prefill from what you've already set up. You can also add labor, shop supplies, and other fees to the kit.

The warehouse system in articles lets you track stock — when a part is used on an invoice, your stock count goes down by one automatically. That part of the system is optional, but it's there if you want to use it.

What to set up first

Start with the jobs you do most often. An oil change, a brake job, a battery replacement — once those kits are set up, a large portion of your day-to-day service writing gets faster immediately.
